why we should care

Rating 3.00 out of 5

html5 wtfThe HTML5 vs Flash saga continues, this Graphic shows, I find, how it is not really a versus, but rather a comparison on how the two will continue to exist side by side. Each of the two technologies have their place in the marketplace. And now that even Flash can run on iPads, it is really left to the developers individual choice. Oh and while I am at it, a lot of people where having fun with Apple’s HTML5 demo the other day, this graphic is really one of my favorites as it outlines, how yet another browser is trying to hijack the web-standards (à la InternetExplorer 6):

Inspired by Iceland

First there was Icesave then there was Eyjafjallajokull. Let’s just say that Iceland has had a little PR problem over the last few years. Well they are striking back now. Nice site that allows you to explore Iceland’s many facets, from things to do, Icelandic life, it’s music and stories.

Excellent do-it-yourself campaign. I would love to know the interaction numbers they got on this campaign.

Lego printer

I am not sure if this is real or not. But if true, it would definitely be cheaper to use a pen then buying the silly expensive ink for your regular inkjet printer.

Incredible 3D projection

3D Projection Mapping. An incredible demo of a light projection on three dimensional surface. Awesome! This makes 3D TV and 3D Cinema look incredibly outdated doesn’t it.

Are you human

Rating 3.50 out of 5

Interesting project where the artist asks a rather poignant question. How, with Captcha like functionality, the computer now gets to decide whether a user really is human.

So what about you, are you really human?

Get a Mac tribute

Rating 4.00 out of 5

If you are a mac-fetishist or not this will bring up memories. The campaign started way back in 2006 and must surely have been the longest running campaign of it’s kind. So big up’s as we see them gallop into the sunshine together. Let’s just hope we won’t see Steve Jobs do a stint with Jerry Seinfeld any time soon…

There are also some of the numerous spin-offs that resulted from this campaign that are well worth checking out…

it ain’t my fault

it aint my fault

As ever so often when the s**t hits the fan, artists get together to try and do their part. Mos Def, Lenny Kravitz, the Preservation Hall Band, Trombone Shorty and Tim Robbins got together to jam, and to record this track to gather funds for gulfaid.org.

Excellent track indeed.

fonting the web

Google Font API

Google just announcedvery functional font resource with an API which will help using custom fonts within web pages. The days of when you receive an art directors mock-up and you have to ask them whether you can’t use standard web font seem to be over.

Yet another excellent Google initative. And while I am at a Google post, make sure you take another look at Wave, as they updated their UI, and seems much less buggy now, then when launched.
